SINNERS
WHO DID CHRIST DIE FOR?
MATTHEW 9:13 NKJV
"But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
MARK 2:16-17 NKJV
16 And when the scribes and
Pharisees saw Him eating with the
tax collectors
and sinners, they said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats
and
drinks
with tax collectors and sinners?"
17 When Jesus heard it, He said to
them, "Those who are well
have no
need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to
call the
righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
LUKE 5:30-32 NKJV
30 But their scribes and the
Pharisees murmured against His
disciples,
saying, "Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and
sinners?"
31 And Jesus answered and said to
them, "Those who are well do
not need
a physician, but those who are sick.
32 "I have not come to call the
righteous, but sinners, to
repentance."
LUKE 7:34 NKJV
"The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'
LUKE 7:36-50 NKJV
36 Then one of the Pharisees
asked
Him to eat with him. And He
went
to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat.
37 And behold, a woman in the city
who was a sinner, when she
knew that
Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an
alabaster
flask
of fragrant oil,
38 and stood at His feet behind Him
weeping; and she began to
wash His
feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head;
and she
kissed
His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
39 Now when the Pharisee who had
invited Him saw this, he spoke
to himself,
saying, "This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what
manner
of
woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner."
40 And Jesus answered and said to
him, "Simon, I have something
to say
to you." And he said, "Teacher, say it."
41 "There was a certain creditor
who had two debtors. One owed
five
hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42 "And when they had nothing with
which to repay, he freely
forgave
them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him
more?"
43 Simon answered and said, "I
suppose the one whom he forgave
more."
And He said to him, "You have rightly judged."
44 Then He turned to the woman and
said to Simon, "Do you see
this woman?
I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she
has
washed
My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45 "You gave Me no kiss, but this
woman has not ceased to kiss
My feet
since the time I came in.
46 "You did not anoint My head with
oil, but this woman has
anointed
My feet with fragrant oil.
47 "Therefore I say to you, her
sins, which are many, are
forgiven,
for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same
loves
little."
48 And He said to her, "Your sins
are forgiven."
49 And those who sat at the table
with Him began to say to
themselves,
"Who is this who even forgives sins?"
50 Then He said to the woman, "Your
faith has saved you. Go in
peace."
LUKE 15:2 NKJV
And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."
LUKE 15:7 NKJV
"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
LUKE 15:10 NKJV
"Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
LUKE 18:9-14 NKJV
9 Also He spoke this parable to
some who trusted in themselves
that
they were righteous, and despised others:
10 "Two men went up to the temple
to pray, one a Pharisee and
the other
a tax collector.
11 "The Pharisee stood and prayed
thus with himself, 'God, I
thank You
that I am not like other men - extortioners, unjust, adulterers,
or
even
as this tax collector.
12 'I fast twice a week; I give
tithes of all that I possess.'
13 "And the tax collector, standing
afar off, would not so much
as raise
his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God be
merciful to me
a
sinner!'
14 "I tell you, this man went down
to his house justified
rather than
the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be abased, and
he who
humbles
himself will be exalted."
1 TIMOTHY 1:15 NKJV
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
ROMANS 3:22-24 NKJV
22 even the righteousness of God
which is through faith in
Jesus Christ
to all and on all who believe.
23 For there is no difference: for
all have sinned and fall
short of
the glory of God,
24 being justified freely by His
grace through the redemption
that is
in Christ Jesus,
ROMANS 5:6-8 NKJV
6 For when we were still without
strength, in due time Christ
died for
the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man
will one die; yet perhaps
for a good
man someone would even dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we
were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
ROMANS 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 TIMOTHY 2:4 NKJV
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
JOHN 3:14-16 NKJV
14 "And as Moses lifted up the
serpent in the wilderness, even
so must
the Son of Man be lifted up,
15 "that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have
eternal
life.
16 "For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten
Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life.
