DIFFERENCE THAT SETS US APART
MATTHEW 5:43-48 RSV
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'you shall love your
neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44 But I say to you , Love your enemies and pray for those
who persecute you,
45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven;
for he makes his sun rise on the evil
and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have
you? Do not even the tax collectors do
47 And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you
doing than others?
48 Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore,
must be perfect, as your heavenly
Father is perfect.

17 Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is

19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the
wrath of God; for it is written,
"Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
20 No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is
thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you
will heap burning coals upon his head."
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

COLOSSIANS 3:12-15 RSV
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on
tender mercies, kindness,
humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if
anyone has a complaint against
another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the
bond of perfection.
