QUOTES FROM THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY

Taken from Facts

Canadian scholar Arthur C. Custance (Ph.D. anthropology) member of the Canadian Physicological Society, a fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute, and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences.

In "Evolution: An Irrational Faith" he observes,

"Virtually all the fundamentals of the orthodox evolutionary faith have shown themselves to be either of extremely doubtful validity or simply contrary to fact.... So basic are these erroneous [evolutionary] assumptions that the whole theory is now largely maintained in spite of rather than because of the evidence...... As a consequence, for the great majority of students andfro that large ill-defined group, 'the public,' it has ceased to be a subject of debate. Because it is both incapable of proof and yet may not be questioned, it is virtually untouched by data which challenge it in any way. It has become in the strictest sense irrational...... Information or concepts which challenge the theory are almost never given fair hearing...."

"Evolutionary philosophy has indeed become a state of mind, one might almost say a kind of mental prison rather than a scientific attitude...... To equate one particular interpretation of the data with the data inself is evidence of mental confusion..... The theory of evolution... is detrimental to ordinary intelligence and warps judgment."

Arthur Constance, "Evolution: An Irrational Faith" in Evolution or Creation? Vol. 4- The Doorway Papers (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1976), 173-74

Dr. A.E.Wilder-Smith, three earned doctorates in Science, academic career spans 40 years, ncluding the publication of mare than 100 scientific papers and more than 40 books which have been published in 17 languages.

"Over and above this, the situation is such today that any scientist expressing doubts about evolutionary theory is rapidly silenced. Sir Fred Hoyle, the famous astronomer, was well on his way to being nominated for the Nobel Prize. However, after the appearance of his books expressing mathematically based doubt as to Darwinism, he was rapidly eliminated. His books wree negatively reviewed and no more was heard about his Nobel Prize. The case of the halo dating methods developed by Robert V. Gentry tell a similar story. Gentry gave good evidence that the earth's age, when measured by the radiation halo method using polonium, might not be so great as had been thought when measured by more conventional methods. A postulate of this type would have robbed Darwinism of its main weapon, namely long time periods. Gentry lost his research grants and job at one sweep."

"It is by such methods, often bordering on psychoterror, that the latter day phlogiston theory (Neodarwinism) still manages to imprint itself in pretty well all scientific publications today. I myself gave the Huxley Memorial Lecture at the Oxford Union, Oxford University, on February 14, 1986.

My theses were well received even by my opponints in the debate following the lecture. But I have been to date unable to persuade any reputable scientific journal to publish the manuscript. The comment is uniformly that the text does not fit their scheme of publications.

I recently (December 1986) received an enquiry from the Radcliffe Science Library, Oxford, asking if I had ever really held the Huxley Memorial Lecture on February 14, 1986. No records of my having held the lecture as part of the Oxford Union debate could be found in any library nor was the substance of this debate ever officially recorded. No national newspapers, radio, or TV station breathed a word about it. So total is the current censorship on any effective criticism of Neodarwinian science and on any genuine alternative."

from A.E.Wilder-Smith, The Scientific Alternative to Neo-Darwinian Evolutionary Theory:

Information, Sources and Structures (Costa Mesa, CA:TWFP Publishers, 1987), iii-iv

Nobel prize-winning biochemist Dr. Francis Crick commented,

"An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going."

from Francis Crick, Life Itself: Its Origin and Nature (New York: Simon & Shuster, 1981), 88

Hoyle's research partner, Chandra Wickramasinge, also noted,

"Contrary to the popular notion that only creationism relies on the supernatural, evolutionism must as well, since the probabilities of random formation of life are so tiny as to require a 'miracle' for spontaneous generation tantamount to a theological argument."

The esteemed Carl Sagan and other prominent scientists have estimated the chance of man evolving at roughly 1 chance in 10 to the 2 billionth power.

from Carl Sagan, F.H.C. Crick, L.M. Muchin in Carl Sagan, ed., Communication with Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CETI) (Cambridge, MA: MIT Press), 45-46

In "Algorithms and the Neo-Darwinian Theory of Evolution," Marcel P. Schutzenberger of the University of Paris, France, calculated the probability of evolution based on mutation and natural selection. "There is no chance (1 in 10 to the onethousandth power) to see this mechanism appear spontaneously and, if it did, even less for it to remain....Thus, to conclude, we believe there is a considerable gap in the neo-Darwinian Theory of evolution, and we believe this gap to be of such a nature that it cannot be bridged within the current conception of biology."

from Paul S. Moorehead adn Martin M. Kaplan, Mathematical Challenges to the Neo-Darwinian Interpretation of Evolution (Wistar Institute Symposium Monograph No.5)(Philadelphia: The Wister Institute Press, 1967), 75

astronomer Sir Fred Hoyle conceded that the chance that higher life forms might have emerged through evolutionary processes is comparable with the chance that a "tornado sweeping through a junk yard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the material therein."

from Sir Fred Hoyle, "Hoyle on Evolution," Nature, Vol. 294 (Nov. 12, 1981), 105.

Dr. Nils Heribert-Nilsson, a noted Swedish botanist and geneticist. Toward the end of his distinguished career he penned his magnum opus Synthetische Arbildung (synthetic speciation), and exhaustive treatment of more than 1000 pates that was the culmination of a lifetime of scientific work and practical experimentation. His long years of experimental research taught him that the idea of evolution was "absolutely impossible," something more "at home in Alice in Wonderland." He finally concluded, "A close inspection discovers an empirical impossibility to be inherent in the idea of evolution."

Nils Heribert-Nilsson, English Summary of Synthetische Arbildung (Synthetics Speciation) (Victoria, British Columbia: Evolution Protest Movement, 1973) 1142-43, 1186

After 40 years of scientific research attempting to prove the validity of evolutionary theory, Dr. Nilsson concluded that hi time had been thoroughly wasted. He became convinced that the theory of evolution should be entirely abandoned as a serious obstruction to biological research:

"The final result of all my investigations and study, namely that the idea of evolution, tested by experiments in speciation and allied sciences, always leads to incredible contradictions and confusing consequences, on account of which the evolution theory ought to be entirely abandoned, will no doubt enrage many; and even more so my conclusion that the evolution theory can by no means be regarded as an inocuous natural philosophy, but that it is a serious obstruction to biological research. It obstructs- as has been repeatedly shown- the attainment of consistent results, even from iniform experimental material. For everything must ultimately be forced to fit this speculative theory. An exact biology cannot, therefore, be built up."

Nils Heribert-Nilsson, Synthetische Arbildung Lund Sweden: C.W.K. Glerups (1953), 11.

Robert E.D.Clark (Ph.D. organic Chemistry, Cambridge University) comments in his The Universe: Plan or Accident? "The existence of design and nature is a fact which must certainly be taken seriously" because "in every main branch of science- physics, geophysics, astronomy, chemistry, biology- we are faced by the same surprising fact.... Nearly everywhere it [nature] shows the signs.... of something that we can only think of in terms of ingenuity and deliberate design."

Robert E.D.Clark, The Universe: Plan or Accident? (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1972), 151, 181.

Dr. W.R. Thompson, the noted entomologist, in his introduction to the centenary edition of Darwin's Origin of Species, observed that Darwinism has had a wasteful influence in numerous scientific disciplines including genetics, biology, classification, and embryology. He argued that because evolution had become an indefensible dogma to be defended at all costs, the cause of science itself had suffered:

"This situation, where scientific men rally to the defense of a doctrine they are unable to define scientifically, much less demonstrate with scientific rigour, attempting to maintain its credit with the public by the suppression of criticism and the elimination of difficulties, is abnormal and undesirable in science.

Introduction by W.R. Thompson to Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species (New York: Dutton Every Many's Library, Series No. 811, 1959), xx-xxiii

World renowned Soviet biochemist and creationist Dr. Dmitri Kouznetsov, also with three earneddoctorates in science, has further commented on the negative consequences of evolutionary thinking in science and other fields. He observes that in Russia, scientists usually "become creationists on scientific grounds" noting that "evolutionists are very subjective in which data they decide to use as evidence for their theory."

Carl Wieland, "Interview with Dr. Dmitri Kouznetsov," Creation Ex Nihilo (Australian), Vol. 14, No.1, 34.

Dr. Louis Bounoure, Director of Research at the National Center of Scientific Research in France, once noted, "Evolution is a fairy tale for grown-ups. The theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless."

Louis Bounoure, Le Monde et la Vie(Oct. 1963), from Wysong, Creation/Evolution, 418; also in The Advocate (Australian) (Mar. 8, 1984), 17.

The following is taken from a disertation by Bill Morgan

"No real evolutionist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of evolution over creation."  {Quote by Mark Ridley, zoologist, New Science magazine, June 1981 page 831.}

"The fossil record with its abrupt transitions offers no support for gradual change..." Stephen Jay Gould, Natural History, June-July 1977, page 22.

"The evolutionary trees that adorn our textbooks have data only at the tips and nodes of their branches; the rest is inference, however reasonable, not the evidence of fossils." Stephen Jay Gould, Natural History Magazine, May 1977, page 14.

"Evolution requires intermediate forms between species and paleontology does not provide them." David Kitts, Evolution Magazine, September 1974, page 467.

"The known fossil record fails to document a single example of phyletic evolution..." Steven Stanley, Macroevolution: Pattern and Process, 1979, page 39.

"To the unprejudiced, the fossil record of plants is in favor of special creation." E.J. Corner, Botany Professor, in "Evolution in Contemporary Botanical Thought, "1961 page 97.

"The geological record has so far provided no evidence as to the origin of the fishes." J.R. Norman, "A History of Fishes," 1975, page 343.

"The origin of rodents is obscure...no transitional forms are known." A.S. Romer, "Vertebrate Paleontology," 1966, page 303.

"The [evolutionary] transition to the first mammal ...is still an enigma." Roger Lewin, Science Magazine, 26 June 1981, page 1492.

"The fossils that decorate our family tree are so scarce that there are still more scientists than specimens. The remarkable fact is that all the physical evidence we have for human evolution can still be placed, with room to spare, inside a single coffin." Dr. Lyall Watson, Science Digest, May 1982, page 44.

The above quotes are all from evolutionists! There is a book entitled "The Revised Quote Book," which has over one hundred referenced quotes from evolutionists falsifying their own theory. This book and many other books and videos on this subject, applicable for all ages and can be procured by calling the Institute for Creation Research (619) 448-0900. (I don't work for them, I just am happy to provide you with a resource for more information).
